The Compilers' Note

An almanac is only as good as the trust readers place in it. Here is how we earn it.

Why an Almanac

Makeup advice is abundant and often contradictory. Feeds favor the new, the dramatic and the sponsored. We set out to compile the opposite: a steady reference that answers practical questions quickly, explains the reasons behind long-established technique, and stays the same tomorrow unless the facts change.

How Entries Are Compiled

Technique entries draw on long-standing professional practice as recorded in standard texts, such as Kevyn Aucoin's Making Faces, and on what working artists consistently teach. Hygiene and safety entries follow published guidance from regulators and dermatological bodies, including the US Food and Drug Administration, the European Commission's cosmetics pages and the American Academy of Dermatology. Regulatory entries are checked against the text of the laws themselves.

Where practice differs between sources, we give the common ground and say plainly that variation exists. We prefer a cautious, accurate answer to a confident, wrong one.

Independence

Mediapandacarouselmd is not affiliated with any brand, retailer, salon or regulator. We do not accept payment, free products or affiliate commission, and we do not recommend specific products to buy. Brand names appear only where they are part of the historical or factual record.

Not Medical Advice

Nothing here replaces a doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist. If a product causes a reaction, stop using it and seek qualified advice.

Corrections

Errors, once confirmed, are corrected promptly and the page date is updated. To report one, use the correspondence panel or write to [email protected].
